捱到病!

Ngai tou paeng ! In movies I watched a lot lah, but never did I imagine that could actually happen in real life. I was hospitalized for 5 days 4 nights. (It sounded like I was on holiday uh?!) . I was given drips on Avelox™ infusion solution other than the pills and nasal spray.

I kena buta cucuk (poke) 3x (left hand) during my first night when the nurse (apparently she is a pretty new nurse) was trying to put me on drip. She kept on saying," sorry sorry sorry....". 2x cucuk for blood test. At last she was able to insert the needle properly into my right hand under the assistance of another more experienced nurse. So it went on fine for the rest 3 days. On the 4th day, oh no.....the drip was not working after some time and the surrouding was swollen. According to the 'officer', "sayang lah to take if off and put you on pills, it's such a waster leh, left so much more wor, we've better finished it off lah, somemore it's not cheap you know". Of course I agreed. So.....I ended up kena lagi 1x cucuk on my left hand (using an infant needle).

hosp 01

(From the website I found out that this AVELOX is a sterile intravenous antibiotic used in adults for the treatment of serious infections of the lung, airway and sinuses.

AVELOX contains the active ingredient called moxifloxacin, which is an antibiotic belonging to a group of medicines called quinolones. These antibiotics work by killing the bacteria that are causing your infection.

AVELOX is available by prescription only, and is used in a hospital environment only.

The usual adult dose is 400mg once a day for 7-14 days. )

For me, all the meals are OK but the 'neighbours' everyday complained about their food leh, saying tak bubuh garam lah, tak enak lah and etc lah.

hosp 02

There were some people who became my spokewomen and spokemen while I was hospitalized but in actual they knew nothing in the background. They just saw the surface, assumed and concluded by their own. The typical ke po chi who likes to cho gao gao one lah!

Nasal spray

nasal spray

3rd visit to clinic. Nasal spray was given. Now only that Dr knew that his previous medicine did not work on me at all. Now only I heard him saying, " hmm....very very blocked...hmm......very very .... very blocked...." and ended up spending ~20 mins to 'clear'. Finally he wanted to give me pills that will cause slightly sleepy one liao. Finally MC 1 day. The Dr somemore scared that my 'ultimate motive' was to wake up in the midnight for world up final leh. Wah piang! I told him I never watch lah during midnights!

Very sick lah

I've been sick from 30th Jun till now. This time is very chia lat.During day time it's worse , with blocked nose everyday, covering with face mask plus another piece of N95. During night time I couldn't breathe and couldn't sleep. I went for another clinic on Thu night and proceeded to work the following day, which was actually a holiday. Boh huat tor, I got to work since the schedule was so damn packed. Replacement later date lah.

So, going into the room everyday with swollen eyes, blocked nose, sneezings and coughings and somemore wrapped with that pao-kar-bat-bat wear - Argh! it's very suffocating leh. Anyhow, yesterday I have finally kao tim the recipe which was workable and presentable. At least we got some kao tai *I sao tong immediately with rocket's pace*

Crazy by Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley Crazy Lyrics

"Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley

It's an awesome track!
It makes me dance whenever I heard it.
I can't stop listening to it.
I am sooo hooked on this song!

While I was back in Milpitas, I simply tuned to a radio channel and heard this song for the first time. The next day I heard it again and from then onwards I stay tuned to this channel as I noticed that the songs were played repeatedly. I waited everyday to listen to this song. I heard it either while driving to work at Hillview or driving back from office to Staybridge/McCarthy. The track sounded so damn great especially when I was driving alone in a foreign country yoh! You know, got that kind of 'I am so damn free' feeling! I could not stop 'dancing' while driving! Nobody knows me there, so I don't care lah! :)

While flying back from SFO-HK using Cathay Pacific, I heard it again! This song was listed in one of its radio channels. Cool!

The second week was getting more OK, relieved a bit already and I could start to access internet mails and type more " ;) ". Next week gonna be my last week here already oh. Hmm.....RUSH here RUSH there RUSH everywhere but I really made full use of my time here, mind you *wink wink* :) I'll have a write up on this trip once I am back to Penang.

This is the personal notebook that my colleague over here lent to me. *wink* jealous boh?! I use it both at work and also at hotel room.

Big head blocking Da Vinci

One day one movie. Syiok! Poseidon, The Da Vinci Code. For the latter, I thought I would not have possibly made it before I fly(?) but I did!

I think I agreed with Susan Orlean, "You give up some of the imaginary quality of reading, and trade it for the visuals and the publicness of seeing the movie.

The film version deviated kinda lot from the book. " The most ??? in my mind was when Robert Langdon told Sophie Neveu that she is the last living descendent of Jesus Christ. Wah piang! *ngor yao mou taeng chor ah?!*

I will have to watch again this movie (either in cinema or DVD) because sitting in front of me was a very inconsiderate chao ta por. After the movie has started ~ 15 mins, I asked him politely if he could lean a bit lah but he (and his gf) just ignored, sat straight still, choy lei tou sor! You may think that may be there was someone blocking in front of him uh?! Not even one leh. My friend and I looked around the whole cinema, for the whole 5-6 rows in front of him, his head was the tallest one. His shoulder was like 3 inches above the seat height. So can you imagine how tall his whole head was 'standing' in front of me?! His whole head was blocking 1/3 of the subtitles! When the movie started speaking french, I could see the left and right portions of the sentence only. Mind you, not only this, I managed to watch 2/3 (horizontally) of the screen only throughout the whole show due to his bloody big head.

Tell me what should I do if I were to meet this kind of people next time?!

Green green grass

Those plants were there either because of capable of bearing fruits or got medicinal properties. Don't ask me why no landscaping etc etc. Ideally it should be as vacant as possible, with just the mowed green land only.

《剧院魅影》Think of Me

I like to read 沈星 blog partly because of this background song. This is a song which you must have archived somewhere in your brain after watching "The Phantom of the Opera".

《剧院魅影》

The Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack Lyrics

Song : Think of Me Lyrics

[CHRISTINE]
Think of me
Think of me fondly when we've said goodbye
Remember me once in a while
Please promise me you'll try

When you find that once again
You long to take your heart back and be free
If you ever find a moment
Spare a thought for me.

We never said our love was evergreen
Or as unchanging as the sea
But if you can still remember
Stop and think of me . . .

Think of all the things
We've shared and seen
Don't think about the ways things might have been . . .

Think of me
Think of me waking, silent and resigned….

Imagine me
Trying too hard
To put you from my mind

Recall those days
Look back on all those times
Think of the things we'll never do
There will never be a day
When I won't think of you . . .

[RAOUL]

Can it be?
Can it be Christine?

Bravo!

Long ago
It seems so long ago
How young and innocent we were...
She may not remember me
But I remember her...

[CHRISTINE]

Flowers fade
The fruits of summer fade
They have their season so do we ...
But please promise me that sometimes
You will think (opera singing)
of ~~~~~~~~~ ^^^^^^ me!

The soundtrack that I last mentioned before in this blog was ("I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You" from Evita).
I have got all the winamp -> m3u file ready for my 'NatKingCole', plus the html coding ready for mediaplayer add-on but the problem is I do not have the webspace to store the playlist and mp3 files coz am using blogspot server mah. So how am I gonna add it leh? Please teach me if you know ok.

A little push to leave the nest

It's been ages since I last entered cinema. The last movie I watched was back in December, Perhaps Love .

Some sum sui movies in mind ...

Failure to Launch - starring Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew McConaughey.

It says "To leave the nest, some men just need a little push".

I guess this can be interpreted the same way when referring to job. :) *Yes, I already khi siao, every single phrase that I read now can be easily linked to job* *psychopathic from resentment?!* :)

The Da Vinci Code - starring Tom Hanks & Audrey Tautou. Very very looking forward to this one oh!

困守安袁

I was electrified when I 'heard' this from yesterday's episode of 意难忘.

困守安袁

家道丰腴自胞温 也须肚里立乾坤
财多害己君当省 福不胚胎祸临门

Mind you, this 'chiam' sounded too familiar to me. I got it last Wed. Last week was the week of 心神不宁 to me. I unconsciously went past a red traffic light whilst driving. I underestimated the distance and minorly scratched the underneath of my car too.

stand to live

When we talk about life partner, people say this," I am not looking for someone that I can stand to live with for a while. I am looking for someone that I can not stand to live without for the rest of my life!"

You can therefore rephrase the above in order to reflect job. "I am not looking for one that I must stand to live with for a while. I am looking for one that I do not have to stand to live for the rest of my life."

I shall remember today's date. 16.4.06.

Let your hand fool your leg

Today is the April Fool Day.

[Fwd Mail]

How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

Try this now!

This is so funny that it will boggle your mind. You will keep trying it at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot. But apparently you can't ! Ha!

What you should do:
1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.

What will happen :
Your foot will change direction!
Surprisingly there is nothing you can do about it. Believe it or not?!

(I raised white flag. I can't outsmart it. Anyone who can resist the direction change one please tell me).

Owing the bank cari jalan mati

It's very sad to know that when one's house got to be auctioned off. We introduced so many people to the house owner for the past 5 years but he insisted to sell for higher- than- market- price. We have also seen so many potential buyers coming and leaving through house brokers but in vain. We assumed that he was wishing to settle the house loan plus debt (outside one) in one go and therefore no need to pay any extra money. We advised him to let go when the demand was there coz owing the bank's money was no joke one man. He chose to wait for higher selling price. From the conversation we had with him, he seemed to be naive enough to not knowing that as time went on, the interest got accumulated daily would be very very hiong and at the end the debt would be a double or triple jump leh. Somemore the money you owed outside one leh?! We have seen now and then people coming to chase for money. We also knew that his family members have helped him clearing the outside debt for many times. One flat sold to pour into this debt 'hole' and yet it was still very 'thirsty'. So on and so forth............until this evening we finally witnessed the bank's person- in- charged came and put the 'notis lelong'. *Liao lian, mian kong liao *

Hold me tight, put me down, leave me alone

Today I went and trimmed my hair at a saloon nearby the market. Mind you, I did not prepare anything on 'myself' before CNY.

As usual, I browsed through the HK magazines and read about this article back in 2004 talking about him (颜伟福- 白花油王子). There was one phrase he quoted from a book he once read that - during a kid's growth, you can summarize it as "Hold me tight, put me down, leave me alone" and elaboration blah blah blah. He said this could also apply on a relationship development and so on and so forth blah blah blah. Both also true heh?! To all the mothers and lovelorn ones, you agree boh?! *wink*

FYI,a little bit of 8 kuar here if you don't know who this fellow is ah. Did you ever come across one MTV which you doubted whether it is an advertisement leh or a MTV leh?! The MTV showed one botak guy singing with the song's lyrics shown at the bottom but then on and off the screen shows you the scenes that they apply the ointment or something like that. Har lah! He is this 'singer' loh. He used to self-subsidize his own albums one. Un liao boey?!

初四星巴克

Che 4 初四- we three (Lena, Lilian and I) met up with Erlin at E-闸星巴克 (E-gate Starbucks lah). Going out in four is yeah! if you look like the S&C gang. If not then you'll become the DH, ha! We managed to 'jom' the sofa set of four but then later on I found out that this might not be a good choice coz my neck turned 'sour' leh due to the space in between the two opposite sofas was far and thus we got to sit slantingly towards the front in order to listen to what others talked. Well, you can avoid doing so by talking really really LOUD and covers the voice volumn of the surrounding lah. :)

Japanese kue ka pek

After that we dropped by Lena's house. This one was 'kum' from her house one. The Japanese kue ka pek. Nice packaging and nice BOX too hehe.....

初三聚会

yi mai fu zhuk
Che 3 gathering at my house. This gang is usually about 10 persons or less. This has been carried out for several years already, easily 5 to 6 years?! Each year the time was getting later and later and the group was getting smaller and smaller too. Initially was 7.30p.m, then as years passed by, it became like until 8.00p.m. still small cat two three pieces. Plus some could not attend somemore one leh due to personal affairs.

The Yi mai fu zhuk is a must since YC always said that she only ate this once in a year and it was at my house during CNY. Other than that, the gang will HAVE TO sponsor some food or titbits loh. I did not take the photos of those tit bits liao coz we were busy 'transferring data' once we sat down :)

Attendees : YC, Lena, WM, EP, MC, Lilian, LK and lastly CC and BZ dropped by after 12 midnight.

The gathering dismissed at 1.30a.m.

粤翠轩 (Yue Cui Xuan) or 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge) ?!

These were the wet wipes I kept since Jan 20th. The packaging was so damn nice leh, 我不舍得用啦! :) It got lucky numbers at the back also oh.

There was a lunch treat by vendor at Jade Blossom (粤翠轩), Krystal Point. They ordered the CNY set of 8 courses one oh. If it was a 收工宴 or our own funtions then of course the pictures of those dishes would have already been posted here long long time ago. :) However, it was not leh and I really could not be that thick skinned sitting in front of them taking the photos whenever the course was being served. I believe if I were to do so, they would definitely thought that I am either iao lur , 吃痴 or siao one! Anyhow, the courses were nice indeed.Yummylicous~~~~~~~~!

There was a little joke on the name of the restaurant before we went there. Actually this was not our 1st time there. We have in fact been treated several times previously at this restaurant too. The name of the restaurant is 粤翠轩 (Yue Cui Xuan), but then don't know why, could it be the name was too difficult to pronounce, or some people did not even know how to pronounce either the 1st or the 3rd word or both that....

somebody asked me," At 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge) hor? The one at Krystal Point?!" "Who said 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge)?! Got new restaurant opened there after 粤翠轩 (Yue Cui Xuan) meh?! "
"Neh, just now I mentioned and one of them said that restaurant's name that we went last time is 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge)?!"
"Har? Kum tou tak ah? How can 粤翠轩 (Yue Cui Xuan) become 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge) one?"

Haha! The only similiarity is the middle word. See?! Luckily there is only one chinese restaurant there, if there got another one so coincidentally called 翡翠阁 (Fei Cui Ge) which is more 'user-friendly' to remember or pronounce then you mah drive your customers to nextdoor loh?! Why not this restaurant put han yu pin yin (汉语拼音) wordings at the bottom or somewhere near the big jiao pai huh?!

My free traveller dictionary

Hmm...I decided to let my 'traveller' stays in one big ring file alone for ease of reading instead of binding them up in separate copies. Ya, it is the collection I mentioned before here.

Whole piles of them
Yes, I used to put the self-adhesive transparent reinforcement rings on every page before filing them up in ring files. I know the capacity of this new ring file is definitely not enough but ai...no choice lah.

Silk Road! Silk road .....wahahaha!

The directory also got to be updated leh but a lot woh! Later lah..... :)

Vmag gifts!

Ha! Won again! This time it is this V MAG -August /- Loreal Professional Absolut Repair worth of RM209.00. Hmm...I can still recall this issue was actually free one *wink*

I have won the items below so far from participating those promo contests in V MAG.

2003- Bobbi Brown.

The first (and huge too) gift that I won from V Mag was the Bobbi Brown Promotion 1st Prize hamper for worth of RM1500. This item was sent < 2 months after participation therefore I could remember well that this contest required a chinese slogan one!

That time I was not given any notice letters prior to their delivery therefore I received it in BIG surprise! I could still remember when I came down after bathing and saw the hamper in the living room, I asked " Wah, whose one?! For us one ah?!" "Yours one". "Who send one?! When send here one?" "Neh, JUST only, nah that lorry still outside."

From Bobbi Brown onwards, the gifts below kai chuk loi :) :

Loreal Invincible product RM80.00
LOTR coin box, very ‘milo-tin’ but ‘priceless’.
Parkson Voucher RM50.00
Fudge Dynamite RM49.00
Loreal Curl Mist & Liss Extreme Shine Perfecting Serum RM100.00

Also from other free magazines and newspapers :
Guerlain gift set RM150.00
Clearasil 3-in-1 set RM20.00
I-Green Resurge 3-in-1 set RM60.00

The V MAG notice/letter was always sent many months later after the participation date. Therefore for most of them I couldn't recall what slogans I have written, if there was any such requirements. What I know is I participated mostly chinese version one nia lah.

Paintball Sport

I joined my previous mountainbiking group for this paintball game this evening. Why I said 'previous'? because I have already 'taken leave' for 1 year (Oops!).

Er...this is my first try on paintball sport. For me, I'll rather put it as paintball game than the actual name 'paintball sport' lah, ha! :)

It's SYIOK ! but aiyoyoh...when kena the paintballs betul-betul ah, painful + bruises loh.

Go here for the photos lah!

(update: bruise diameter has grown up to as big as 3 1/2", yak!).

Magic Tree

magic tree
Aiyah! Very sorry lah I missed out the '0 hour' leh.

OK, it is actually a dry plain 'cardboard' (trunk) with the purple/pink-coloured tips at the 'branches'. You fix the trunk in the X-cross position so that it stands still there. Then you pour the special liquid into the plastic container. The trunk will absorb the liquid and the branches will then blossom.

I first came across such type of magic tree back in year ~1998/99. I was at IMR (Institute of Medical Research), KL that time doing my industrial training. One of our labs' pakcik sold them and I bought a few pax from him. I bought the big garden style, single tree style and etc. He was rather secretive when I asked him from where he got such kind of funny stuffs. I just got to know "from Taiwan". I tried to hunt for these thingy after all those which I 'planted' finish withering. But....chuey boh leh!

Oh ya, if you do not protect them well enough from being accidentally shaken or touched by people, the 'flowers' will drop easily like snow.

I've never seen the similiar thing again until the last Xmas season when I was at Gurney Plz. I bought them immediately when I saw them - for Heng's Xmas makan festival.

Heng brought this to office today finally so that I can show her the 'how-to'. Don't worry, she still has another two at house to try on her own, hiak hiak!

Many of my colleagues have never seen such thingy before. The tree was placed at my hanging cabinet during 'monitoring' period and thus the cabinet was being opened many times by people including myself to check on the 'blossoming status'. Ha!

懒人煮蛋法(Lazy Egg)

This is actually a 'lazy' method to prepare水煮蛋 (boiled eggs). I would like to share with you this tip I learnt from 生活智慧王 (“Good Idea” - Taiwan show thru TVB8) last week. We have tried it out and it works so damn well! Extremely simple! No sweat!

1) Place two pcs of tissue papers inside the rice cooker and sprinkle them with water (not too wet).
2) Put in the eggs.
3) Close the lid and press "Cook" button.
4) Wait till the button jumps up.
5) The eggs are ready.

By using this method you will never have to worry whether the eggs are over-cooked (hard-boiled) or under-cooked. The egg yolks will turn out just nice, not too dry. (This is provided that you did not forget and leave them too long inside the rice cooker after cooked lah ok).

You don’t have to kor hui (jaga api) or kor chui (jaga air).

You don’t have to do any washings nor cleanings.

The speed is faster than using ordinary boiling method. This is because the water sprinkled will turn into steam and compressed inside the rice cooker to cook the eggs.

You can peel the egg shells off very easily.

"这个杀手不太冷" 长褛

Model : Cariso

I called this long coat as "这个杀手不太冷" 长褛! (directly translate will become 'this murderer is not that cold' :). I am not sure of the material but it is very light weight and resembles nylon synthetic kinda material.

Guess the price! I bought it yesterday at RM9.90 only from 168. Hard to believe uh?! It's true.

It was a night at first planned to go for Mickey Mouse Band.

It ended up at Kafe Crepes instead.

When we drove near Green Lane, Cean asked whether if I have visited this ISLEE and 168 boutique warehouse. I said No. She claimed to have bought some really cheap clothes at 168 before. Therefore we stopped by these two places to have a quick look since it was still ~30 minutes away from our appointment time with YY.

Later on we proceeded to our crepe session at Kafe Crepes. It has been at least half a year since I last visited here.

We called it a day after finishing our 2nd round at Pulau Tikus market at ~10.30 p.m. We were all sleepy liao. Mind you, I have been sleeping rather early for the past one week especially the day when I had the fire fighting training ha!

Perhaps Love (如果 . 爱 )

Perhaps Love Main Casts
爱 没有 恨 没有 抓 不来 摔 不掉
It has been days and yet this phrase and its melody still keep bouncing in my mind. Tiuk virus liao ! :)

Directed by Peter Chan (陈可辛). Starring Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武), Jacky Cheung (张学友) and Zhou Xun (周迅). Hong Kong. A muse appears in Shanghai to intervene in the lives of two actors living out a love triangle both onstage and off.

What I wanna say after watching this movie :

1) I wish there were more musical or singing scenes. I wish those circus scenes were to be played slower coz too lao juak, my eyes really did not know where to focus to.

2) The scene of Jacky Cheung's vocal performance (singing solo), made me think of the "Phantom of the Opera" straightaway! Why?! I guess it must be his costume hmm?!

3) "A movie -within -a -movie" story made me watch until tao hin hin. Too many switching of scenes made me confused. I only started to grasp the meaning of certain scenes or conversations after browsing through the "Perhaps Love" official website. Now only I realize "Oh , OK. that's the conversation for the 'movie-inside', not the 'actual life'.

Listen to the main songs, watch the MV and korek more on the storyline (the making of movie <制作特辑>) at Perhaps Love (如果 . 爱 ) : <看 . 片段> Video Clips.

Another movie which I like from Peter Chan is 甜蜜蜜(1997) aka Comrades: Almost a Love Story.

Do you still remember this scene in 甜蜜蜜?!

Lok Lok

It’s been ages since I last ate Lok Lok. Last Saturday at the very last minute Wdy, CE and I drove down to Pulau Tikus to eat Lok Lok. Each of us only ate a few sticks as kae liao (加料) other than our main dish.

Whenever I asked them, “Ei, sek liao boey?”
They answered, “Sek liao” .
“Er…better sak ka ku lah hor?!” Then I would soak in again, waited a little bit longer. Ha!

1st thing - I was kia si lah, still haunted by the possibility / warning of introducing worms into my body.
2nd thing - we couldn’t help but kept watching out the “high cholesterol” food.

Our discussion went like this:
“Octopus oh, I already ‘mark’ it very long liao loh, but don’t dare to take nia.”
“Wahlau, how come all GREEN colour stick one (Green = most expensive one)? Only 1 to 2 plates with red or yellow colour one nia ah?”
“Wah, jiu hu ah! High cholesterol one loh. That siput also same.”.
“That plate is hae kor izzit?”
“Haha! Hae kor also you don’t know ah?!”
"You see? It shrinked until this small after cooked".
“Ai…all also high cholesterol one, seafood one, don’t know which one to choose?!”
“Aiyah, mai kuan a neh cheh lah, eat first lah.”
“Which is the one out of all these that got the highest cholesterol level uh?”
“Chiao nui!”
“Bingo!”
Mind you, that table still got another 3 ladies sitting together with us. Ha!

I guess the taukeh will sure ‘sapu’ us if he overheard this. *Grrrrrrrrr......*

Ronda Butterworth

Today we had our whole morning spent at Butterworth.

After going to Jawi for chai koay, I suggested to take the opportunity to visit the Raja Uda market, the largest market in Penang on the way back. (I have been longing to visit it since long time ago oh!) . Mind you, I really had a tough time trying to park my car coz it was so damn congested. Every single space available at the nearby residential area, shophouse area or opposite the road there was parked. It was very common to see people parking their cars far+far+far away to walk themselves up to the market.

The Raja Uda market was located by the road side. You will not miss the very long stretch of stalls starting from the traffic light junction there because that was where the bad traffic started. All the stalls were jumbled up inside there, not confined to only one street, but spread throughout the many cross-roads there, the so-called cabang-cabang lah. Ah ha! it was rather messy but I LIKE IT! Ya, I like such kind of market which is still unorganized or not yet allocated inside any appropriate MPPP buildings. That reminded me of the Sartok Market back in Kuching, Sarawak too.

We just had a quick ronda for ~20 minutes or so then we realized that the market was really LARGE and definitely needed MORE time to explore if we were really keen on ‘looking for something’. We decided to come back some other time during weekdays or perhaps when the little kid was not brought out together with us.

I WILL BE BACK ! :)

On the way back, while passing through the Wolley Avenue (if not mistaken, I think this area which consists of the whole stretch of 3-storey shop houses is called so), I came across this Kocha Kopitiam (Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth). Hmm…its style was very much similar to the Old Town Kopitiam at Prai Megamall. Hence, we stopped by to try it out.

One glance at the menu, it offers wider range of choices than Old Town Kopitiam. It also serves 'proper' noodles and porridge. (Old Town Kopitiam serves nissin instant noodle right?! :) ) We ordered garlic bread, butter kaya roti, milo, teh o ais and classic kopi.

Soft Hard Union (软硬天师)

The other day I heard one song at don’t-know-where.

The cheery melody went “Chi chi ko chi ka ki, chi ko chi ka ki, paa paa paa…..chi chi ko chi ka ki, chi ko chi ka ki, paa paa paa……”

I knew it was familiar, most probably one of those albums that I love listening to very long time ago. Until much later (a few days later perhaps), then suddenly it came into my mind, "Ah ha! it was from Soft Hard Union - 軟硬天師 <廣播道FANS殺人事件> (released in '93)! "

Soft Hard Union
<廣播道FANS殺人事件> album cover was featured as the 1st picture from the left.

This album of my brother went missing when I was back from uni. Ever since then I never listen to those songs anymore.

Lately I browsed from the net and found that the latest release (Sept 2005) was actually this one <软硬联盟 SOFTHARD ALLIANCE> (the 3rd pic from the left). These are their Best Collection (精选集). (FYI, they are no longer releasing any 'new' albums since 2003).

I guess that's how I heard the song. It could have been played by the CD vendors near the food court, market or etc.

Recipes and Traveller

I have helped Wdy to lelong off her used VCD/CD player last week. It's been with me for nearly two months or so and I was relieved when it was finally out. Phew! This week comes another item – a used Canon 35mm camera (not by her).

Buying is easy. Lelong is not.
Earning is hard. Spending is no sweat.

I have a habit of collecting certain articles of Next Magazine (壹周刊), East Week (东周刊) 等等 before I ‘trashed’ them (to be more exact - donated them to charity orgz). I filed them up, but now it ended up occupying too many files. Hence I think I will have to look for alternative ways.

The topics which I collect are mainly:

Cooking Recipes (厨乐无穷, 汤水, 双如谈食, 大厨教煮) - mainly Cantonese or HK dishes (since the magazines are published in HK). There are also taiwanese, western and other food including desserts.

Food Articles - from the titles alone you can guess how interesting the contents would be. (流行食讯, 开边饭, 温食男女, Food Court 大食堂, 蔡澜-未能食素, 新食力 plus 饮食资讯, 食为Scene, 时令美食, 食识性也, 食物王, 粤食粤开心, 新味阁New Taste, 打牙祭, 刁嘴四方) – hopefully one day I will be able to turn some of those images inside the the articles into real dishes (ha!).

Traveller (天地任我行, 大游行,千里千寻, 旅行舍 Travel Around, 周休二日, 背包客, 番禺仁我行) – get to know a lot of countries or cities related to their lifestyles, cultures, food & etc. Kinda interesting and informative one.

Paper Bags

The renov. has finally OVER on Thursday. We started to clean up since then.

I threw away or 'donated' some things to colleagues as well. One of them was the collection of these paper bags.

At first .....
